Palafrugell Municipal Pavilion (Girona)

In the municipal pavilion of the town of Palafrugell, in the province of Girona, a self-consumption photovoltaic installation has been installed to improve the energy efficiency of the public building and reduce its electricity consumption from the grid.

The installation has a total peak power of 118.8 kWp, consisting of 216 550 W photovoltaic modules from Longi Solar, one of the leading brands in high-efficiency photovoltaic technology. The panels have been arranged on the roof of the pavilion, optimizing their distribution to make the most of the available surface area and maximize annual energy production.

For the conversion and management of the energy generated, a 100 kW inverter from the manufacturer Huawei has been installed. This high-performance equipment, designed for high-power installations, guarantees high energy efficiency, advanced monitoring and high operational reliability.

One of the most relevant aspects of the project was the relocation of the electricity metering system, moving the meters to the outside of the building to comply with the technical and accessibility requirements established by the distribution company. For this purpose, different civil works and adaptation of the electrical infrastructure were carried out:

  • Construction of two concrete niches on the outside of the building, equipped with metal doors, to house the equipment corresponding to the TMF-10 electrical schematics and electrical protection systems.
  • Execution of concrete bases for the correct implementation and stability of these niches.
  • Channeling of the electrical lines from the interior of the pavilion to the new exterior niches, using steel piping to ensure adequate mechanical protection and greater durability of the installation.

These actions made it possible to adapt the existing electrical infrastructure to current technical requirements, improve accessibility for maintenance work and ensure the correct integration of the photovoltaic installation with the building’s electrical system.

With this 118.8 kWp installation, the municipal pavilion will be able to generate a significant part of the energy it consumes through renewable solar energy, contributing to the reduction of energy costs and the reduction of CO₂ emissions, reinforcing the municipality’s commitment to sustainability and energy transition.
